Create a unique and personal presence in your pastel painting using the power of color and light.  In this still life class the student will explore composition, values and color mixing to achieve a deeper understanding of how light creates depth and rich color in the pastel painting. As always, Katie will teach through lecture, demonstrations, and lots of personal attention.

Materials List for Still Life in Pastel

small sketch pad
vine charcoal or a pencil for studies
soft pastels (not oil pastels) – set of 60 or more. Rembrandt set of half-sticks are a good basic brand
roll of Viva paper towels
Papers: For beginning students - Canson Mi-Teintes papers, 4 - 6 sheets size 19 x 24 (felt gray, flannel gray, sand, etc. - no white or buff colors), returning students use ground of preference
masking tape to hold paper on backing board
