We are happy to announce Emily Lombardo of Brooklyn, NY, as our inaugural Artist-in-Residence. The Museum recently acquired her series of The Caprichos for its Permanent Collection. Lombardo’s series of etchings are in direct conversation and homage to Francisco Goya’s Los Caprichos of 1799. Both series will be on exhibit at the Museum at the time of her residency. The eighteenth-century prints by Goya, as well as Lombardo’s contemporary series, address major cultural issues of their times through the medium of print.

Emily Lombardo: The Soothsayers will be on exhibit in the Atrium Gallery. The Soothsayers are three-dimensional colorful prints with embossed texts that “float” from the ceiling.

The Caprichos and The Soothsayers will be Emily Lombardo’s first solo museum exhibitions.
