Magical Cyanotype: Visiting Artist Workshop with Brett Day Windham
Saturday, June 6th, 10AM - 3PM

One-Day Workshop, Saturday, June 6th, 2025, 10 AM–3 PM
Learn the captivating process of creating a cyanotype in this one-day workshop with visiting artist Brett Day Windham! This Victorian technique of camera-less photography (sometimes called sun-prints) was invented in 1842. The process was famously used by 19th-century botanist Anna Atkins and later by architects and engineers to reproduce drawings. Cyanotype also inspired a young Robert Rauschenberg. We will add our own twist! Bring yourself, a bag lunch, something you’d like to print (items with some decay, pattern, or translucence are always exciting), and a sketchbook or notebook. You will leave this class with the skills and resources to continue making sun-prints on your own!
Teaching artist Brett Day Windham, based in New England, will be in Easton to support Gathering the Chesapeake, her exhibition of cyanotypes, at Zach Gallery.
