China Ink Painting on Xuan Paper: Session II
Feb 14, 2026 - Feb 14, 2026

One-Day Workshop
Saturday, February 14th
10:30am-3:00pm
This session is a follow-up to our previous workshop, but no prior experience is required. Students who attended the first session are welcome to continue building on their work, and new participants are encouraged to join.
Inspired by Robert Rauschenberg and Donald Saff’s 1985 collaboration in China—created after visiting the world’s oldest paper mill in Jingxian—this workshop introduces the basics of Chinese ink painting. Participants will work with traditional Chinese brushes and ink on Xuan paper to create large-scale paintings. The instructor draws on her own studies in Shanghai (2005–2009). Finished works may be embellished with gold and white inks layered over traditional black and indigo brushmarks.
