Nick is back by popular demand! Learn techniques for creating rich, luminous landscape paintings using pastels! Various types of pastels (hard, medium, and soft) will be used. Pastel washes and “dry into wet” methods for underpainting will be explored. Students are to bring their own photos to use as reference. The workshop will be appropriate for intermediate students, as well as experienced painters. Students are responsible for their own supplies and will be given a supply list.

Materials List for Painting the Landscape with Pastel

Students will use UArt 500 grit sanded pastel paper which is available online at or can be purchased from the instructor.
Students are to bring their own photos to use as reference.
Students are responsible for their own supplies (hard, medium, soft pastels, charcoal, kneaded erasers and brushes for washes.
Instructor will provide turpenoid for under – painting washes.
