Explore painting, drawing, and collage with two exploratory accomplished artists Sheryl Southwick, and guest instructor Billie Bourgeois. They are sisters who, though living 1200 miles apart, work in similarly intuitive ways. Students will learn new ways of looking at their own works of art by making multiple works of their chosen subject using mediums of their choice. Realism, expressionism, abstraction, and the formal elements of art will be intertwined in discussions of works in progress. Instructors will guide students in taking a subject apart by referring to masters in art history who continue to inform modern artists. This class is for intermediate to advanced painters.
