Classic Monoprint
Saturday & Sunday, March 14th & 15th, 10AM - 2:30PM

Two Day Workshop: March 14th – 15th, 10:00am – 2:30pm
Instructor: Rosemary Cooley
The new spacious print studio will be the location for this workshop in creating painterly monoprints with oil inks on dampened archival paper. The two etching presses will be used, and the matrix of large acrylic sheets will produce the much sought after platemark. For those who have tried printing with water based inks on dry papers, this is a whole new experience, as it produces glowing color as well as a ghost (2nd) print that may be enhanced with pastel or colored pencils.
Bio: Rosemary Cooley has been a member of Washington Printmakers Gallery since 2004, and a former president and present board member of the Washington Print Foundation. She has a keen interest in implementing her love of Art History into her printmaking methods, which include woodcut, linocut, intaglio, monoprint, lithograph, collagraph and artist’s books. She likes the layering of images which meld with her interest in Jungian theories. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Art Education and an M. Litt in Art History. She values having studied under many admired printmakers and painters in the United States, South Africa, China and Italy. Her artwork is in many collections in the US, France, Sweden, England, Belgium, South Africa, China, Japan and New Zealand.
