Día De Los Muertos
October 31 (TCFL), November 1 & 2 (AAM)

Thursday, October 31, 6-8 pm (Talbot County Free Library)
Friday, November 1, 5-7 pm (Academy Art Museum)
Saturday, November 2, 10 am – 2 pm (Academy Art Museum)
The Museum will celebrate the rich tradition of Día de los Muertos, where vibrant ofrendas (altars) and colorful displays honor departed loved ones. Join us as we pay homage to this Mexican holiday, blending indigenous rituals with strong family values through intricate artwork and symbolic offerings.
To begin this special event, visit the Talbot Free Public Library on Thursday, October 31st, from 6-8 pm for a Dia de los Muertos celebration. Stop by and create your own mini altar to contribute to a larger community-wide altar that will be at the Museum on November 1 and 2. As you craft and create, enjoy a screening of Disney’s “Coco”. This is a wonderful opportunity to honor loved ones and celebrate this vibrant cultural tradition together.
On Friday, November 1 experience an intimate program with altars made by community members (limited seating available.) On Saturday, immerse yourself in the traditions of this beautiful holiday with altars, and traditional music. Enjoy crafting workshops, face painting, and storytelling sessions that honor our ancestors. Bring your family and friends to experience the colorful decorations, altars and a community that comes together to remember and celebrate life. Don’t miss this cultural event that promises to be both educational and fun for all ages!
Organized in collaboration with Samantha Martinez and the Talbot County Free Library.
