Documenting Art: Visiting Artist Workshop with Ben Tankersley

One day workshop: March 21st, 11am – 3:30pm
In this class students will learn best practices for photographing and lighting 2 and 3-D artwork. Topics covered will include artwork and camera placement, additional lighting options as well as color and exposure control with manual and automatic camera settings. Students will have the opportunity to have hands-on guidance while photographing their own provided artwork. Please bring a camera, tripod and artwork to photograph. Bringing a laptop with photo editing software is optional.
Benjamin C Tankersley is a commercial and editorial photographer who regularly contributes to The Washington Post as well as additional local and national publications. Benjamin also exhibits personal photographic projects and has a self-published photo book included in the Indie Photobook Library at the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library at Yale University and the Self Publish, Be Happy collection at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris. Benjamin earned his BFA in Photography from the Corcoran School of Art in 1999 and currently is an adjunct professor there. He also teaches at the Maryland Institute College of Art. He is based in Baltimore, Maryland.
