Art Meets Music: An Exploration of the Deep Synergy Between Visual Artists and Composers – A Fiddler on the Roof
We dive into Chagall’s unique musical iconography. Over the course of a lifetime’s output we can find at least 16 different instruments represented in several hundred of his artworks. By far, the most frequently featured is the violin. What did Chagall’s legendary floating fiddlers represent, and how do they reflect his bittersweet, deeply ambivalent relationship with his homeland of Mother Russia?
