BASIC DRAWING: THE FUNDAMENTALS

Painting Studio
If you have an interest in art and are ready to start drawing, this class is for you. Katie will provide first-time/beginning students with a solid foundation in drawing, which will include understanding the vocabulary of art. Working with charcoal, students learn to use line, value, composition, and perspective. Students also learn to develop the ability to see as artists. Minimum of 6, maximum of 10 students.
Supplies for Basic Drawing
18 x 24 newsprint pad
18 x 24 drawing pad – 400 series Strathmore is a good pad (better paper than newsprint)
9 x 12 or 11 x 14 drawing pad (homework)
vine or willow charcoal, soft – few sticks
compressed charcoal – 2 sticks
kneaded eraser
viewfinder (I have some for sate)
We will go over supplies in first class.
