Suffer and struggle through winter blahs with 21 days of guided experiments. Work with watercolor, gouache and mixed media on traditional cotton watercolor paper and non-traditional surfaces toward a goal of 21 small paintings. Think post-card size landscapes, seascapes, “home-scapes” and “figure-scapes” — finding the unknown in things nearby. Students will use suggested lessons/subject matter or go “free range.” Just show up for coffee, demonstrations, critiques, and resolving problems. That would be painting problems not personal, but who knows, both could happen. At the first class, each student will receive a supply packet of assorted artist-grade cotton papers, yupo, watercolor canvas, bristol board, rice paper, and black Italian Nero paper. All miscellaneous supplies are also included in the packet. One painting will be framed in an unusual way. Almost all supplies furnished. Supply list available online.
