Drawing Studio
Learn the foundational concepts and skills required to draw the head in any position. Lessons cover key anatomical landmarks of the skull and neck, important planes of the head, how to establish the “attitude” of the head and neck, and how to keep the features aligned. Bring a bag lunch for a half-hour break at noon. Minimum of 5, maximum of 10 students.

• Drawing board with clips, 23″x26″
• Newsprint pad, 18″x24″, rough texture
• Willow Charcoal, Medium size (package of several).
• Charcoal pencils: General’s HB, 2B, 6B
• Paper blending stump
• Kneaded eraser
• Snap-off utility knife or razor blade to remove pencil wood
• Several squares of high-quality paper towel
• Sanding block or a 200 grit, Large Sanding Sponge (from a hardware store, home center)
• Pencil extender(s) (like General’s “The Miser” or Koh-I-Noor’s “Pencil Lengthener”
• Leather Artist Chamois
• Faber-Castell Perfection Pencil eraser (or similar)
• Small container with lid (1quart plastic paint container at hardware store or home center) or quart yogurt tub with lid for catching charcoal dust when sharpening.
• Sketchbook for notes and practice
• Graphite pencil, 2B-4B
• A couple of sheets 25”x19” Strathmore 500 Drawing paper (vellum surface), or 2-ply 500 vellum Bristol paper, or white Strathmore 500 Charcoal paper
