Starting with the very basics, Sheryl will demonstrate several techniques that bring a new excitement to artmaking. Students will learn how to make new kinds of marks by using a variety of printmaking techniques such as monotypes and lino block printing. They will print with non-toxic inks.
Sheryl Southwick is a national award-winning artist who graduated from Louisiana State University and studied at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC. She lived a year in Paris which rekindled her connection to Pierre Bonnard, whom she considers her greatest influence,
She moved to Easton in 1987 and has been part of the arts and teaching artists community ever since. Color and texture have been the main focus of her work. She teaches adults and children at both the Academy and the Chesapeake Multicultural Resource Center.
Sheryl is represented at the Trippe Gallery in Easton, Jo Fleming Contemporary in Annapolis and Ann Connelly in Baton Rouge.
