EMERGING COLLECTORS CIRCLE
The Academy Art Museum is thrilled to announce a new initiative for Museum patrons who are under 45 or within the first three years of building their art collection. Members get one signed limited-edition print by the Museum’s Artist-in-Residence, as well as access to exciting programming throughout the year, such as curator-led visits to art fairs in the Mid-Atlantic, coffee talks on contemporary art at the Museum, and tailored advice on how to grow an art collection. Whether you are exploring the idea of starting an art collection, already live with art, or want to meet other art appreciators, join this vibrant community to meet fellow collectors and explore opportunities to purchase affordable art. We are pleased to welcome the group’s inaugural chair: local philanthropist and business owner Allie Prell.
The annual individual or household dues of $250 are tax-deductible and go towards supporting the Museum’s free Thursday night community programs, which advance the Museum’s mission to make art more accessible to a wider audience and build bridges between visual art and daily life, such as music, cuisine, and sports.
The 2022 limited-edition print will be by Artist-in-Residence Jackie Milad, who will spend July and August at AAM creating work and producing a solo exhibition.
Please join us for the group’s kick-off meet-and-greet on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 6 pm!
*Please note, you must be a Museum Member to join this group. Please click here to review our different Membership levels.
The Collection Society is a Curatorial Program that supports the activities and acquisitions of the Academy Art Museum. It brings together people with a personal commitment to strengthening the Museum’s collection. The CS provides a unique opportunity to become closely involved with the Museum’s Permanent Collection.
Through special programming and events, the CS builds relationships with the Museum’s director and curator and like-minded patrons in intimate, behind-the-scenes settings.
Membership dues will be used solely to acquire objects for the Museum’s permanent collection. Annual membership dues going forward are $750 for couples and $600 for individuals (tax-deductible). Museum membership is a prerequisite for joining the Collection Society. Benefits include:
- Dedicated events organized by director and curator, such as curator-led exhibition tours
- Behind-the-scenes private collection visits
- Insightful lectures and specialist talks
- Opportunities to socialize with visiting speakers and artists
- Occasions to gather and celebrate recent acquisitions to the collection.
Membership of CS runs on a seasonal schedule, with the majority of programming occurring from September through June. Programs are designed by the director and curator, and managed by the Curatorial Department, with dues and renewal support from the Development Department.
