The artist book holds an important place in the varied and exciting realm of printmaking. This unique art form melds creative creations along with calculations of the cover, endpapers, content (with or without words) and colophon, which offers details relevant to the making of the book. In this workshop, students will create a hardbound concertina book filled with their original artwork and words (if desired). They should bring prints they have made (monoprints and woodblock prints), along with interesting papers to complement prints we’ll make in class with a gel plate. Instructions on how to incorporate simple text will be given. Students should bring a bone folder, kneaded eraser, and #2 pencil.
