Music at Noon · Michael Kannen and Friends
Michael Kannen was a founding member of the award-winning Brentano String Quartet and is a current member of the Cooperstown Quartet. Kannen has graced the world’s most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall, London’s Wigmore Hall, and the Sydney Opera House.
Over a celebrated career, he has collaborated with many classical musicians who have had profound influence on his music such as flutist Paula Robison, violinist Sergiu Luca and the legendary pianist Leon Fleisher. Dedicated to passing on the great chamber music tradition, Kannen served as the Director of Chamber Music at the Peabody Conservatory for 22 years, a role that earned him the prestigious Johns Hopkins Excellence in Teaching Award.
Kannen states, “I am a musician because it connects me to people through music – whether audiences, collaborators or students – and, happily, my career has afforded me abundant opportunity to do so.”
