Building upon a longstanding practice of collecting modern and contemporary works on paper, the Museum recently made a commitment to expand the number of works by women, artists of color, and others traditionally underrepresented in museum collections and art history textbooks. This selection of recent acquisitions opens with works by a diverse array of women artists from the mid-twentieth century through the present, followed by the full suite of Terry Winters’ 2002 Shadowgraphs. Collectively, these works celebrate the inclusivity and expressive freedom inherent in the notion of multiple modernisms.
The Museum is grateful for the generous support of the Keller Collection Society and the many individual donors who have contributed to the growth of the Permanent Collection.
