The critically acclaimed author’s latest novel O Beautiful examines the North Dakota oil boom through the lens of Elinor Hanson, a Korean-American journalist who returns home to write about changes in the Bakken. Yun will discuss the novel, one of the San Francisco Chronicle’s “15 Best Books of 2021.”

Jung Yun was born in Seoul, South Korea and grew up in Fargo, North Dakota. She is the author of O Beautiful (St. Martin’s Press, 2021), which was a New York Times Editors’ Choice and Group Text selection, and Shelter (Picador, 2016), which was long-listed for the Center for Fiction’s First Novel Prize and a finalist for the Barnes and Noble Discover Great New Writers Award.
