The photography exhibition Under the Mexican Sky, now in the Academy’s Lederer Gallery, showcases the work of several photographers including Edward Weston. In the 1920s and 30s Mexico City grew into its role as one of the major hubs of art and culture. Artist photographers were drawn there by the wonderful light and the community of artists, who all influenced each other. For ArtLab we will make photos similar to Weston’s using vegetables, shells, feathers, and stones. Bring objects of your own to include in the art.

About Drop-in Art Lab
Drop into the Academy on Thursday evenings from 5-7pm to create unique works of art, for free! This drop in class is open to all ages and provides a great way for families to get creative while making original artworks inspired by our current exhibitions. No registration required and we’ll provide all the materials — just stop by and bring your imagination.
