Recurring Histories: Selections from our Permanent Collection by AAM’s Teen Interns
Jun 26, 2025 - Sep 7, 2025

The pieces featured in this exhibition delve into the multifaceted challenges that adolescents face in our contemporary world, drawing connections to historical patterns that persist over time. As young individuals navigate their formative years, they confront the enduring shadows of social and political movements that threaten justice and equality. Today’s teens grapple with escalating climate change and political turmoil, both of which shape their realities and fuel anxiety.
Through art, our interns invite visitors to explore the complexities of these struggles and reflect on their recurrence throughout history. By understanding the past, we empower today’s youth to challenge oppressive systems and advocate for a more just, inclusive, and sustainable world.
The Museum thanks Christa Montague, her son David Montague, and his wife Diane, for their generous support of the Teen Intern Program.
