Summer Book Club with Shore Lit: On the Tobacco Coast
Thursday, July 11, 6pm
Christopher Tilghman’s new novel, On the Tobacco Coast (FSG, April ’24), is the final installment in his decorated Mason family series, which is set on the Eastern Shore and based on the Queen Anne property that has been in his family since the 17th century. The novel addresses themes of history, environment, race, inheritance, and land legacy that are deeply relevant to our community. Shore Lit founder Kerry Folan will facilitate an intimate, bookclub-style conversation, which will consider the novel’s themes of legacy, inheritance, and erasure through the current exhibition Darlene Taylor: HEIRLOOMS. Taylor’s exhibition features artwork reimagining the lives of historic Black women who lived in or moved through Talbot County.
Registration is required and is capped at twenty participants.
