Create free art inspired by our exhibitions! No registration required—just drop in, get creative, and have fun!
Explore the themes of our current exhibitions through hands-on art activities:
Kin: Rooted in Hope
Artist Jeffery Boston Weatherford used a digital scratchboard—a computer-based drawing technique—to create the works in this exhibition. For this activity, we’ll use traditional scratchboard, a tactile and accessible method that allows you to create striking drawings without the need for digital tools.
Richard Estes: Urban Landscapes
Inspired by Estes’ photorealistic style, participants will explore the museum’s surroundings and capture urban scenes using their own camera phones, tablets, or sketch pads. Observe closely, shoot or sketch creatively, and see your world through the lens of photorealism. Use #AAMsoniccity to share them with the Academy Art Museum community!
We’ll provide all the materials and other tools—just bring your imagination!
