Experience firsthand the alchemical process and unmatched beauty of tintype photographs.  Led by Baltimore-based photographer Jay Gould’s Wormhole Workshop, who will make your portrait by hand using techniques and equipment from the late 19^th century, these free portrait sessions offer a rare opportunity to be documented by one of the earliest photographic methods. Drawing inspiration from Diné artist Will Wilson’s tintype portraits on view in the exhibition In Praise of Shadows, participants will experience the excitement of watching their own image appear out of darkness.

The tintypes will be exhibited at AAM’s Faces of Our Community exhibition, on view July 20 – August 14, 2023. Participants will be given their portraits to keep after the exhibition closes.
