This class is ideal for students with some basic drawing skills who are interested in exploring the unique attributes of drawing with graphite, whether it be still life, landscapes, or portraits. You will learn to use graphite as a medium and achieve a variety of effects with different forms of the material (pencils, powder, water-soluble). The class will also explore tools and techniques to create three-dimensional drawings on paper. Students will learn straightforward techniques to create portraits, and will apply the skills they’ve acquired to produce their own artworks. Naomi will give demonstrations and tailor the class to meet students’ needs.
