This weekend workshop will focus on the basics of charcoal and introduce students to the many directions in which one can take this medium, from blended and silky to rough and emotive. Students will get to experiment with GreyScale, PanPastels, and water-soluble black pencils for a watercolor effect but will mainly learn how to build a strong and balanced charcoal piece, emphasizing the fundamentals: good design and accurate values. All painters, regardless of the medium they choose, can benefit from a refresher in these basics. Beginners are welcome, though some drawing experience is necessary. Minimum of 6 students, maximum of 10 students.
