Swedish master Anders Zorn is famous for popularizing the use of a very limited palette consisting of ivory black, vermillion, yellow ochre, and white, but old masters such as Velázquez also favored using a similar color range. In fact, the Zorn limited palette has roots in ancient Greece. Its subdued range lends itself to painting portraits, and its simplicity and limitations provide valuable lessons for understanding color and the concept of color temperature. Tap into the long history and benefits of using this classic palette. Minimum of 5 students, maximum of 10.
