LECTURE
Victoria Wyeth, the great-granddaughter of illustrator N.C. Wyeth, granddaughter of Andrew Wyeth, and the niece of contemporary realist Jamie Wyeth, will be presenting on the three generations of Wyeth art. Her PowerPoint will examine the subject matter and technique behind the paintings and, of course, fun family stories. Her years of conversations with the artists about their work give her talks a unique perspective.
Victoria Wyeth earned a B.A. in American Cultural Studies in 2001 from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. She then spent a year as a Visiting Graduate Student at Harvard University and further pursued her academic studies by attending Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT., earning a Master of Arts degree in the History of Clinical Psychiatry. She has curated numerous exhibitions that feature the works of her acclaimed relatives.
FILM
WYETH is a documentary film that tells the story of one of America’s most popular but least understood artists. While Andrew Wyeth’s exhibitions routinely broke attendance records, art world critics continually criticized his work. Through unprecedented access to Wyeth family members, archival materials, and his artwork, WYETH presents the most complete portrait of the artist ever — bearing witness to a legacy at the same moment it is evolving. Directed by Glenn Holsten.
Presented in partnership with the Chesapeake Film Festival
